Looking for something raw, real, and deeply local? Peoria’s poetry open mic delivers just that. Held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, this welcoming event brings together voices from all backgrounds for a night of expression, storytelling, and connection—hosted by Ryan Lowry with Yvaine Washington.
Set inside the Preston Jackson Gallery, the evening goes beyond simple readings. Many performers take the stage with memorized pieces, delivering powerful, often emotional performances that can be just as theatrical as they are personal. Whether you’re there to share or just listen, the atmosphere is supportive, engaging, and full of talent—from first-timers to seasoned poets.
Each night also features a guest artist, and this session highlights Goddess Warrior The Poet, an award-winning performer known for her dynamic presence and impact on the regional spoken word scene.
It’s an easy, inspiring way to plug into Peoria’s creative community.
